Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC)

Dear Beard Families,

If you have a child that is enrolled at Beard School and is EL or bilingual, you are welcome to join the Bilingual Advisory committee. Beard School will be having BAC meetings virtually this year.  Dates of this committee will be posted on the calendar events page. A link will be provided to you through class dojo announcements to access this meeting.   All bilingual families are welcome to attend.

Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC)

The Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC) is a parent organization for our English learners and bilingual students. The mission of the BAC is to prepare all of our students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing, technology oriented, and diverse society. The BAC gives parents the opportunity to connect with other parents who have EL and bilingual students.

We are currently looking to establish a BAC at Beard School. We are looking for parents and/or guardians who are interested in becoming members of this committee. The BAC will meet five times throughout this school year.

If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Rachel Karijolich rlkarijolich@cps.edu

Vision for English Language Learners

Beard School offers students in preschool through third grade intensive early childhood academic supports along with behavior interventions so all students may successfully transition to their next school setting. We have a growing English Language Learner Population, and we strive to make sure their academic and social needs are met.

The vision of Beard Schools English Language Learner (ELL) program is to produce language learners who are socially and academically prepared to succeed in their schooling and our diverse society. We are committed to providing a high quality EL program that values our students’ native language and culture.
